I’ve been doing all this bragging about my Omega and now it’s come back to bite me in the arse. There’s a small part on the pot liner that the igniter seats in and it has come off. I reckon it’s out in the yard somewhere in an ash pile. Now I need to light manually which is no problem but how do I keep the igniter from coming on? I have the stove in manual and it still does it. I looked at some parts for these thing and was shocked at how steep they are. Pot liner is somewhat expensive but I glanced at that igniter and my head exploded. $379 for an igniter and that doesn’t include the small compressor which is nearly as high. I sure don’t want these coming on if I don’t need them. Need to preserve them at all costs.
Manual light is easy on these. Start it up as normal and wait until the auger stops with the prime fill. Hit the burnpot with a blow torch and map gas. Get a decent flame like abot 10 seconds. Then close the door and watch. It should take off in about 2 minute with good flame. You might need to hit it again with the torch if the flame dies. But you have a good 5 minute before it will time out for no fire(proof of fire not closing) Just don't leave the door open too long or you'll get a no vacuum switch time out. You could also soak some pellets(about a hand full in isopropal alcohol for 5 minutes before you start.), Then toss that on top once the prime is done and the hit with the torch or grille lighter. I had to do mine for a month before I got my replacement ignitor. I swear by the torch with map gas.
