    ok..
    1st burn today....Harman P61a.
problem#1 taking forever to ignite.....like 15 minutes went by. finally ignite but just a small corner of the burnpot.
problem#2. after the flame starts to grow, it Don't look right.
real orange color.. not the white/yellow it should be.. also kinda lazy.. no blowtorch flame. flumes of smoke swirling in circles behind the flames. never saw that before...
something ain't right... is the ignitor going? is the combustion blower getting weak?
    soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
    then it hit me...
ya know how when you do the Leaf blower trick and with some setups you put a big rag in the vertical exhaust pipe so you can suck crud from the horizonal tunnel of the OAK intake?
then you pull that same rag and stuff up the previous OAK entry and now suck the crud from the vertical pipe?
    not to self:
always remove all rags from the pipes before 1st burn.
yep.... soon as i went outside and opened up the bottom cap there she was sitting where i left it in the spring.
all is well.. lesson learned. stove combustion get's all kinds of confused when you plug it up with a rag.

I have tried firing up stoves with the exhaust plugged with newspaper (keep out critters). A couple of weeks ago I was doing work on my basement flooring so had to move the dryer. I had unplugged the vent and stuffed a piece of insulation at the end of the 5' vent to keep the cold air (and critters) out. Never thought about it when I hooked the dryer back up. Clothes did dry but I thought about it later and retrieved the insulation from the opening outside. Probably good thing that it's an electric dryer as a gas dryer might have backed CO into the house.

Eh, we all do stupid things - the key is to survive and learn :)
