When splitting and this damm thing flea-flicks you where it counts?o_Oo_Oo_O:bug:
Im almost afraid to ask if any of you wear the ol' yockstrap and equipment protector to protect your wood while splitting your wood. I try to face the controls most of the time anyways... IMG_1942.JPG

It's quite simple. You have the machine set up wrong! Set vertically and with you sitting in the right place (directly in front of the wedge), it won't happen unless you decide to stretch your legs but hopefully one knows enough to keep the feet back while splitting. :D

I fortunately have most if this BL in rounds not much more than a foot in diameter. Those that are are limited. But thats only one trailer full. Im expected to pile maybe 6-7 of them when all is said and done. The rounds are just manageable for me though. But it is when the rounds are 18 and up being vertically split. Helps indeed.

I usually have my splitter still hooked to the lawn mower when I run it, so it's angled and those pieces hit me in the belt buckle area. I'm well padded there, so it's ok. ;)

You'll learn to identify when that's going to happen and take a step back.

Mostly it just happens randomly since the wood popped and took a different route

Don't wear the jewel protector, but do wear steel toed boots with metatarsals. To many times doing a dance with the tennies.

Put the wedge on the beam where it should be and you wouldn't have that problem. :p

no just 5'10 sitting on a stool. The knees take the brunt of it but I dont get much that pops back on me thankfully. I can often tell by the strain of the splitter and by the knots expanding so put my hand up to protect the legs.

Thats not a bad idea with the stool Sean! Although I think Dennis might recommend me to split vertically from here on out or recommend I get fit for a lead apron.
