    Got one last week.

Seems I used to get a really bad case of the flu annually but since getting the shots (not sure how long its been now but for many years) I've not had that crazy stuff. My wife got one shot and did not feel good for a couple days so won't get them any more. I know many folks who won't get them for various reasons. Personally, I'll keep getting them as I hate getting sick.

I have gotten two flu shots in my life. Shortly after I got dizzy and nauseous, the second time I was dizzy enough that I had to go home. Those two years are also the only years that I have gotten the flu. Not the stomach flu but diagnosed infouenza A followed shortly by pneumonia. Both years. This was two years in a row, mind you. The last two years I haven't gotten the shot and I have stayed healthy.

People may argue and say that it can't possibly be related to the vaccine, bit it seems too coincidental to not have a correlation and I am not willing to try it again.

Probably if I had those results I would not repeat either.

I have to get them every year because I work in a hospital. The doctors told me that if any person gets sick after the shot they most likely had something wrong with them before they got the shot. I got it 2 years in a row and no issues, hopefully it stays like that

My flu shot status is currently "if it aint broke, don't fix it"

I think my immunity level is still high, I generally don't get sick (knockoff wood)
and when I do, it's like a 1 or 2 day cold that goes away in short time.

BUT, I anticipate once I get older that I will be taking the shot in order to
    keep up

In the hospital, the rules are if you have patient contact, you have to get the flu shot, or not report to work. You can't get sick from the flu shot. It isn't a live vaccine. unless allergic to the vaccine, you are risking death when you don't get the shot. My daughter in law lost her sister to flu just a few years back. She was 32 and left two children. preventable. I push for my family to get the shot. I don't want them hauling that virus home to me. I try to stay away from places where people get close together, like in WalMart. No need to go there for stuff I can have UPS or USPS deliver.

Shots? Flu? Never in my life have I had either. I haven't been to a doc in years, and also haven't even had a cold.

Just say no to needles unless dire is my policy

I have been receiving them for about 5-6 years now.
Never had any reactions to them either.
Can't say if they helped or not.

Get one every year without fail. Last time I did not get one, I got the flu which then turned into pneumonia. There is a incorrect assumption going around that you will get the flu from the shot. Can't happen as the vaccine is made of a non active virus. Some folks do get a reaction after getting the shot, but that is your system firing up in defense of the non active virus. Also, getting the shot is no guarantee that you will not get the flu. The yearly vaccine is a educated guess as to what strain might be prevalent that year but is only a guess as to what strain is in your area. Everyone has a choice as to whether or not to partake, this Cat ain't leavin' home without it.........................

    You are not alone.

Having my biology background, I strongly suggest that only the elderly or certain people with compromised immune systems should get flu shots.

Last year, our office had a flu shot clinic. Every single person that got the shot got sick. Nobody that didn't get the shot got sick. This was a hell of a hacking cough like pertussis sickness too.

Some of the non sick people at work would wear masks to keep it away. I just loaded up on vitamins and any sort of preventative measures.

I'm not a promoter of making antibiotic resistant viruses. Jm2ยข

I had a flu shot maybe four years back. Working too many hours, switching between day and night shift, overload of family obligations and a bad bout of bronchitis. I could tell I was really run down and thought in this case was a good idea. My shoulder hurt the next day, and I was sweating up a storm but that's it. No flu for me that year. But no flu the other years either.

I'm not sure I buy into all the hype though. Half the time they don't even dial in the right strain of flu, and if I recall, regular random flu kills many more people over all than the specific one anyways.

So I guess if it makes you feel better to get one, by all means do so.

I get a flu shot every year. Worth a sore arm for a day or so. Now, its required for me which is no problem. Also, there were a few lil ones that lost their life in Colorado a few years back from the flu, so MY lil will always get a shot too.
