I was thinking about adding another saw to my harem. I don't really need another saw but I saw a locale dealer having what appeared to be be a awesome deal. I thought about this brand many times but seem to always go back to the similar color that i always have had. So I just wanted to have some thoughts or experience from from my now favorite club members. Please don't hold back give me nothing but the truth! I would use this saw for general firewood cutting The dealer is offering this for $329.00 brand new out the door. This may be blasphemous to say on this forum, but I've managed to talk myself out of at least 3 good deals on saws I've found on Craigslist in the past couple years. Sure, I'd really love to have a lightweight top handle, or something in the 60cc range, but in the end I decided that my 2 saws cover everything I do and the money is better spent elsewhere. But that does seem like a really good price for a saw that compares favorably to the Stihl ms290.
I don't think you can go wrong. I got my first Echo a while back, its a CS 590 Timberwolf. I'm not at all disappointed that I made the purchase. It starts easy and runs well. I think Echo makes a solid saw. Never ran the 550P but for that price I'd happily take it off of his hands!
So I have to ask questions as I am curious. How does the size of this relate to the saws you currently have, and are you loyal to a brand? I have found that I use my 461 for trees over 12 inches in diameter, the 310 for under 12. I have bought and sold several, but stick to the main 2. The 025 my dad kinda owns, I find to be too small and slow. I see guys with 20 or 30 saws, which is cool but I do not think I would use more than 2 or 3. I did just by an 880, so I understand the CAD. Let us know where you land and add a picture.
But seriously, if i were in the market for a saw, i wouldnt hesitate much on that deal. Ive not had much time on echo saws, but enough guys out there vouch for the quality for me to dive in if wanted a new saw. Whats a new 550xp or ms261 cost, almost double this asking price? Hard to believe those could be twice the saw.
