Saw an ad on CL for a nice looking down tree to be removed from a homeowners yard. She even offered $100 to take it away. I usually don't pickup too many trees anymore since I have Tree Services dumping at my wood lot now but this looked pretty easy. The location was on the way to the city where I make my usual deliveries. While I was looking the job over and discussing it with the homeowner, a neighbor drove by and asked me about the tree. He is a fellow wood guy that burns about 3 cords a year. The pictures don't do this tree justice, it was 36" across in a bunch of spots plus it took out a couple of smaller trees when the tree service dropped it. There was also a bunch of logs and bucked up pieces under the brush 8"-14" in diameter that could be just tossed into the truck. The neighbor was real nice and told me he had a 4x4 tractor with a grapple. We knocked it out in 3 hours, got all the trucks and trailers loaded with more than we really wanted and I split the money with him to cover his fuel. Was a good quick haul on the way home and I met a nice fellow wood hoarder.

Great score! Did you direct this fellow wood hoarder to the Firewood Hoarders Club?

Got this one the next day (Sunday) from a guy I know that does firewood and he has too many logs at the moment for his processor, they were just starting to decay around the edges but they will be fine. The dump trailer has been busy this weekend. New shoes for the Dump Trailer tomorrow, it's time. Second picture shows some of the wood from the previous days tree job getting split, squeezed in splitting a cord before taking my GF and her family out to dinner.

Time to clear some land behind the house, I need to expand my stacking and processing area.

Yes, I took her money and the wood. I split it with the neighbor. I cut the small branches into smaller pieces and we made a pile near the road for the town to pickup. For $50 I wasn't doing a professional complete cleanup.

Nice looking oak, and a bonus having a tractor and grapple to help...

Yes, without equipment it would have taken a long time. I was going to trailer down my skid steer but that would have been extra trips and time consuming. I was very happy to come home with a full load of wood as was the neighbor.

Thanks, I am too. It took me 5 seasons before I could make this investment and I am glad to finally have it. I have been so busy with deliveries I'm having a hard time finding time to split. I used to not care for splitting too much but with the volume I can split now quick and easy it's kind of fun.

I think she did well and so did we. We were in and out of there in 3 hours or so, made here a pile of branch wood and split wood for her fire pit, cut her limbs down small and piled them where the town could take them. Got rid of all the big stuff. No issues

Nice buddy, I've gotten lucky myself this year and got 5 good size oak trees that have been down for over a year and a half. Got about 20 trailer loads of loosely thrown wood split and sold off these trees. Got into the business late in 2018 so didn't have a stock pile...I was cutting/splitting and delivering all in one shot.

Craigslist is your friend, advertise there to sell your firewood and also advertise to tree service guys as a tree dump site. I rarely go get trees anymore unless they pay.

I have found the local Facebook pages to be way more effective than Craigslist. You generally deal with people who are closer and a lot less nut jobs!
