IMG_1148.JPG IMG_1149.JPG Making a little headway. It hadn't rained in ~2 weeks, then we got 2" Sunday night and it's raining right now. The clay is slop hole.

Started yesterday installing the new frost free spigot then started to replace the bricks and the power went out:headbang:

Got the ledger beam part way constructed and it rained.
Got ready to set ledger beam and it's raining again....

This thing going to be a beast 22x16' with another 14x16 sistered off the outer beam.
    All 2x10" 12" on centers

    Living in Alabama:rofl:

Actually I was surprised he need's one. The valve is 8" or so back in the house (warm) and it drains the water on the outside of the valve so there's no water exposed to the outside temps. to freeze. (as long as there's no hose attached)
That will be a great deck basod!

12 inch OC. Are you using composite decking? Nice deck for sure. You'll get to enjoy it this year too.

Ok, I'll try not to get my popcorn on anyone, but I have a question.

You have a sliding glass door there, is the deck free-standing away from the house?
Otherwise it seems to me that outdoor faucet will be underneath your new deck, which confuses me.

The originals shutoff right at the wall and being on a slab there isn't any access.
I found these 4" actually 6" long on plumber supply. There was no way to replace the seats in the old valve without taking the valve off.
I always worried this one would freeze and burst as I could never get an insulation cover on it.
I'll have an access panel to get to it for opening and disconnecting hose.

Yes faucet was poorly planned by original builder and the septic tank was under the deck as well. I put the slider in replacing a standard door when I resided with new windows and doors 10 yrs ago. No way to economically relocate as the house is on a slab.

Not composite, planning 2x6 kdat, but I'm known for design changes:rofl:
Joist spacing dictated more by span of 14' without pushing the limits of 16"oc and needing an extra beam for cantilever.

I completely understand. I cannot count the many times I've had to do something here and had to stand back and scratch my head going.. "Why in the He@@ did they do that?":hair:

I take it the faucet will not be usable, as it will be under the deck, but it's darn near impossible to eliminate the faucet and piping as well. :headbang:

Well, as I've told the wife, "we do what we can, with what we have".:picard:

Ledger beam set and concreted in. Ground grade is prohibitive factor in moving beam from the house and having free ledger at the brick. Hope these Simpson post anchors can do their job
