Momma came up and grabbed them one by one and moved them, Im assuming to the bottom of the pallet as I brought in this entire stack and didnt see them again.

Chipmunks and birds nest in mine. I think there may have even been skunk babies in one. Every time I got near the stack it would get skunky.

Lots of critters here also. I see Red squirrels, gray squirrels, chipmunks and always find snake skins.

When I find critters like that they don't last long.

From the "Another reason our neighbors think I'm nuts" file.....

It hit the stacks with the backpack blower when doing my post mowing cleanup. Seems lessen the instances of critter nests. Granted, that all stops around late October when I'm done mowing for the season.

Find them on a regular basis. At my old house my cat would hang out with me and get an occasional "treat" if a mouse came out. Once i found a nest with pink babies. He didnt even have to chase them.

Had a nice size black snake living in my stacks a couple years ago. Never saw him in entirety but I caught him sunning his head out of one side of the stack and his tail out the other LOL. Found an old skin suggesting he was 2” thick. Saw no mice that year.
Last year I noticed the chipmunks were just loving the new plastic pallets I had gotten. 4’x6’ fairly solid with only small drainage holes on the bottom. They’re living underneath or at least storing food under there.

I actually wish we had more snakes here. There are lots in the city. But they don’t like the elevation up here or something. I do get mice in my stacks. The mouse poop grosses me out a bit.

I think the Urine is even worse. I’m not a fan of snakes but once I knew he was in there I was happier with the snake than the mice. Think they like the rubber roofing. Can get warmed up nice without exposing themselves to birds of prey.

Pulled apart the holzhausen, and found a mouse-house, unoccupied. A buncha spiders in the piles now.... buZZsaw BRAD .....wolf spider?

We have a bunny den under one stack. Better they than skunks.

What I found today...no pics, but we have someone, a very small someone, chewing the bark off a maple or some other wood we have cut and stacked. Chewed all the bark right off. Only my first year or so splitting stacking and using wood though.

    Sca
