099EDB09-3953-4015-9113-DDE37B5B4D2C.jpeg Hi, fellow pellet heads! Thought I’d share this. I found 26 bags of Rocky Mountain pellets on CL for 50 bucks. AND the guy delivered them to me at my work. He found them in a storage unit that he bought at auction. That equals roughly $1.92 a bag. They look good too. They are dry, clean and smell like a fresh cut Christmas tree.

The guy even gave me a free jug of -20 windshield washer fluid. He said there were several cases of it in the storage unit he bought:thumbs:

I’ve burned these pellets before. They are decent pellets. Not the best, but they will heat my lower level of my house well into the upper 70’s.

Wow. I actually bought 2 tons of those years ago in Massachusetts, and burned them in ct. Made from chipped dead standing trees killed by Beatles in the mountains.
IIRC the colored specs in the pellets are what's left of the Beatles.

Interesting... The pellet companies are coming to Colorado in droves to harvest the beetle kill trees. They are actually a good operation. To the uneducated public, it looks like they are just clear cutting forrest land (the uneducated environmentalists have been making a stink about it). But in reality, they are getting rid of a HUGE fire hazard in dead, standing beetle kill pine. Beetle kill makes good pellets too!

Exactly. While nature will take its course, having millions of dead standing trees is a extreme hazard. Putting them to good use is a win win, too help speed up new growth, and provide a carbon neutral source.

Amazing how over years all different brands of pellets have made it east for a season or 2, and then never seen here again. I should have saved a wrapper from each brand . But that would take up space for more pellets :hair:

I've been hearing that the practically free beetle kill softwood in the Pacific Northwest is beginning to run out.

I hadn’t heard that. I can confirm that there is still plenty in Colorado. I actually wish the beetle kill was almost gone in Colorado. I’d gladly trade pellet burning for a significant decrease in wild fire risk here.
