Got a note today from a relative who lives close to Lansing (NE or city) and this morning they saw a sandhill crane. It is probably about 2 weeks early. It might get a rude awakening as there is a winter storm watch out.
I’ve heard frogs hollering for the past week. Willows are greening up on the tips. Sarvis trees are blooming. Sure looks like spring to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I saw a robin about 2 weeks ago. Not really uncommon in a mild winter like this year. They really just follow bare ground and warmer temps north at this time. It snows and they go a little south
Redwing blackbirds and robins last week, saw two pair of ducks swimming in the little pond yesterday. It was getting dark and I couldn't tell if they were Mallards or Black ducks.
Crocus are blooming and the honey bees were hitting them yesterday. Saw some skunk cabbage pushing through yesterday when I was out cutting.
worst storms of the year snow wise are usually March and April on this side of the pond. 10th of May 1988-4"of snow, latest one i remember- mostly because i had to drive ex to hosp. for delivery of second son at the peak of it. This was after 3 false starts prior.
I noticed on the drive to work tonight that the leaves on a few of the ash trees in the Avenue of Honour were starting to change colour, it may be an early fall down here. We have certainly had good rain in the last three weeks.
We are happy that you got rain. Hopefully no more fires for a long time! Geeze, the gtg is just about 2 months away now...
Had some geese yesterday too. We see lots of geese when we go east of us but not much right here until the locals arrive and take up residence in the old gravel pits not too far from us. I'm looking forward to the red-winged blackbirds and robins to arrive.
All bets are off on the early spring. Just come back from cutting a dead ash and saw some snow geese. HEADIN SOUTH!
Frogs are still hollering here. Calling for snow here the next 2 days. That will probably shut them up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
