Any one on here do any coon hunting with hounds? I started with my grandpa at a very young age, and have loved every since. Post up some pictures or just comment
I'm not a hunter but am a big fan of the Hounds. Nice looking Walker, my best hiking bud in my avatar is half Walker. And the brothers have a little bit of Walker in em, with some Plott and Blood and Cur. Those two are intense in the woods!
Used to take my dad's Redbones out when I was in High school. Lots of great memories! Can't find a picture anywhere though,
Wow... That brings back memories... My first job out of college land me in the boot hill of Missouri... Where I met a guy in the tool shop that ran hounds for coons and coyotes. Had a lot of fun for that year and half that I was there... Great Looking dog there 460 magnum ....
I don't hunt them with hounds nor for the fur but I do trap them so they are not messing with my honey bees. Even butcher one or two every once in a while for the meat. Just remember to remove the glands. Al
Hunted with a black and tan as a kid. Just had one of my old students stop in the other night, his hound crossed into our woods and treed. He asked if he could go back and get the hound, I told him, "shoot the coon and get all of them there are in there." He laughed and walked out about an hour later with 3 coons.
Used to hunt in high school and college every weekend and many weekdays. Had a lot of fun and some great memories with friends
Well these guys are 2 weeks old now. They are out of the dog in the first picture. Hope at least one of them turn out to be like him.
Used to do a bit of coon hunting. No dogs though. Nothing serious. Just helping rid my buddy's farm of a pest. I might have to start back up at my own place now since I'm gonna be growing a good bit of sweet corn on my lot.
I don't, but i love hear them running in the valley below my farm at night. Hearing the baying and seeing beams of light a couple miles into the woods... Makes living in the country so nice.
I have never been around anyone who butchered one. What and how do you do to get it done? Does it taste like chicken? I'm a hick and would be interested in trying it some time.
As I read this thread I can't help but think of Jerry Clowers coon huntin story. Nice dog and nice wall of pelts too.
