I was cleaning out the ash of the Hearthstone one which I hardly used this winter.I happen to remember a story of a gentleman who bought a used Hearthstone one which had over fired and burnt a hole in the top of the stove. He determined that ash falling from the stove pipe had accumulated behind the top of the stove.I think that top part of the stove may be called the baffle. At one point the stove was filled to capacity and became so hot that the ash ignited and produced enough heat to burn a hole in the metal baffle. With this memory I pulled the stove pipe and sure enough there was two inches of ash build up behind the baffle.I shop vac it out and now feel that I saved myself a lot of hell in the future.
