I need a little help making sure I get all the right stuff to install my 6" chimney in my cabin. The Kuuma Vapor Fire 200 will sit in the walkout basement, vented thru the main living area in a chase, on into the attic that is not living space and out near the peak. A total of 27 feet from the basement ceiling to the chimney cap. I have purchased the Supervent venting from Menards My question has to do with the flashing for the colored metal roof which I have not purchased yet. I see there are rubber, stainless, aluminum, etc. The roof is 8/12 pitch. This is in a high snow load area if that matters. I am looking for something that will not have ongoing maintenance issues. The other question is if I have 20" or so of blown in fiberglass in the attic should I consider something to compliment the attic shield that is required to keep the insulation from touching the class a? If so, what will work? Thanks! BTW, brenndatomu sold me the Kuuma and was a pleasure to do business with.
The Standard Selkirk Attic Insulation Shield is about 11.75" tall, and has a Drop down shield of 8.5". There is nothing to prevent you from just building your own insulation shield, even out of wood, just keep it at least 2" or more from the pipe, they just don't want the insulation in contact with the pipe. The Rubber Boot Flashing that is available from Selkirk, may run you $200, but if you Google the rubber Boot Flashing, there are many available in the $60 or less range. Selkirk does have a Snow Splitter PN USSA $65 or any brand will work
So, the Selkirk Flashing kit is all I need on the roof. I wasn't sure if I needed more components than that. Thanks for the reply.
