This Cherry tree is a blow down from 2 or 3 years ago in May, I'm thinking if I release it from the root ball, there is enough weight on the other end of the tree that it might bring the root ball end up.

I think I'll bring the come along, cable and rope 100_9408.JPG back so I can pull it off the Maple.

I plan on doing it in the spring of 2016, this is another Cherry just up the ridge from the one in my O.P.

I'd put in a tongue and groove cut down at the stump and walk away with yur chin intact.
Let the wind and Mother Nature work the T&G apart.

One of the pros that cleaned my property had a cedar stand up on him. Told my neighbor to move you're in a bad spot. Sure enough... Good idea erring on the side of caution. I should listen to my own advice :emb:.

I've never done that type of cut before so I'll pull it off the Maple, thanks.
