Cheat River Hardwood Pellet: FINAL RESULTS

    Temp Average - 280 -400

    Ash Volume - 14 ounces

    Ash Weight – 3.40 ounces

    Ash Percentage - .53%

Fines In Bag – less than 1/8 cup

    Pellet Length Avg. – 1/4” – 3/4”

    Bag Weight – 40.2 lbs.

Burn time – 15.5 hours (approx.)

    Bag Date – 09/15

    Notes:
    Purchased from Lowe’s
    $259 ton
    Appalachian Hardwood mix
    Very low fines
Found some longer pellets in the bag

The pellets were lighter in color than I expected. They look and somewhat smell like a hard/soft blend. Pellets had a nice sheen and pretty uniform in size BUT I did find a few 1.5”-2” long pellets. Ash was fine and a darker brown color (pics look more grey). I did develop a nasty, large ashcake in the bottom of the burnpot which was a bit surprising as I wasn’t really pushing the stove that much. The bag had next to no fines in it.

All in all I these burned pretty well but I’m just not into the larger ash volume pellets anymore no matter how they burn. I guess I turned into a pellet snob. I rate these 2.5 stars.

Disclaimer: as with everything....YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY....the review is just my opinion of them
