This cut has been rescheduled for Jan 11th at Ozark, just south of Springfield. It is open to all who would like to help. We will be bucking, splitting, & hauling the splits about 5 miles so there will be opportunities to help without having to run a saw or splitter. This is a great opportunity to help others, put faces to some of the names on the forums, & share knowedge. It will be a great day! If you would like to help, please post your name & Workshop will get you the details. As lunch is being provided, it is important for him to have a head count for the cook(s) to ensure there is enough food on hand. Concrete, have you got to the big tree I was going to help with before we were snowed out? If not, I am willing to give you hand on the 10th or 12th. Let me know. Hope to see you on the 11th.
I know I can't make it in the morning. I can probably be there after lunch. Where is it going to be? I haven't cut on the big tree Oliver. Have a guy who is supposed to come take a look at it and a few others to see if there worth anything. I'll see if I can't get him over here soon.
Concrete, the address is 1300 west Hall, Ozark, Mo. You can Google "Ozark Recycling Center" and come up with a map. Let me know what you decide on the tree at your place.
Concrete, it sounds like we will be able to set the splitters up next to the pile of logs & the trailers next to the splitters. Workshop already is checking to see if the recycle center will allow a skid steer to be used there so it doesn't look like your tractor will be needed at this time but your saw with you attached of course is always welcome. I really appreciate your offer. If you could bring a trailer, the drop off point for the processed wood is only about 5 miles away.
Ok. The only trailer I have going right now is a 32' flat bed. Check to see if he wants me to bring it, I worry about getting that thing turned around.
Workshop mentioned in an earlier post having 3 or 4 trailers so I wouldn't worry about bringing that long a trailer. With only a 5 mile drive to the dump site, there should be a fairly quick turn around time for unloading the trailers. He is estimating around 14-16 of the forum members & around 10 folks from the local community so it should be a very productive day. (I don't know if he is counting the folks providing the meal or not.)
A quick update. Workshop said the cut may need to be moved back to the 25th. The county is cutting on the landowner's side & is giving it to them so there is only the one load at the recycle center at this time. He is going to check with the county crew to find out their game plan. He may also check with the landowner to see if they would like to donate some of the wood to the charity cut, maybe work on shares if we help cut & split. He is a little frustrated by the possibility of another delay, but it is all in God's timing.
Well, the charity cut has been moved back to the 25th. Message from Workshop: "Spoke with Ed this afternoon. The county guys are out of commission for the rest of the week. This weather STINKS! The secondary location fell through too. Soooo, I'm going to back it up again to the 25th. And pray to the almighty the weather holds up. Thanks for your patience, guys. Its really appreciated. I couldn't ask for better friends."
Concrete, Workshop was wonder if you & your tractor will be available for the rescheduled cut on the 25th? The skid loader he was planning to have on hand before is questionable "a flaky situations". Thanks.
Update from Workshop: Uuuuunnnnngggghhhhh!!!! Ed spoke with county supervisor today. They won't be doing any cutting for the next 3 weeks at least. Charity Cut is still on though. Moving it to Bull Creek, where we were going to have it, originally, in January. Give me a couple of days to see if directions or meeting in Ozark and caravaning down would be easier. John, the tractor might be handy down there, I'll find out. I know the landowner has a tractor and might be helping too. I'll keep everyone updated as I find out. Thanks guys, y'all are the best. Steve Concrete, I'm not sure exactly where this is, you probably know. If you would like to take your tractor, I'm pretty sure Hedgerow has Workshop's phone number so you could contact him directly. Hope to see you there. Have you decided what you are doing with the big downed tree at your place? Again if you would like help on the 24th or 26th, let me know.
Concrete, Workshop said the owner will have a tractor on hand so don't worry abut trying to have your's there. Start time will be 8am, show up when you can, if you can. Have you made any decisions on the big tree? If you want help let me know soon so I can plan for it.
Looks like Cobey and Lumberjackchef will be riding down with me Saturday morning. Maybe one other, but Levi has 2 basketball games, so he's stuck in Joplin for the day...
Sorry for being gone I've been chasing a combine all week. I'm not going to make it tomorrow. Have fun guys.
