You know you live somewhere that it gets really cold when the weather man has a graphic titled like this describing the windchilland your odds being exposed to them. Windchill was -45° this morning. Screenshot_20230222-103431_Facebook~2.jpg

Eeeeks GS! Do you not go outside then? We were super cold like 9 years ago and just stayed in the house except for getting wood. That news headline is over the top.

Every day there's a chance of death. Just remember, you live every day, but only die once.

It is amazing how a person acclimated. I was outside multiple times, not for long stretches, but I've felt worse cold before. Only -37° windchill this morning.

Headlines like that are just :picard:
"70-100% chance of death" from what, getting out of the shower and locking yourself outside while still wet and naked?! :picard: :hair:

I swear some of this reporting is just for “shock value”. Glad I unplugged cable 16 years ago.

-35 f is the plain temp up there, no windchill figured in. I might be wrong but I don’t think they usually have much wind up there when it is that cold.

I was out playing with my new snowblower this morning in around -25 to -30 windchill. Didn’t realize I was cheating death, but my hands did get cold a couple times.

Anything colder than -20 sucks, the colder it is the more it sucks. Worst actual I have been in is -77* and colder than -100* with the wind chill. Was 12* today with 30 mph winds, had to be outside for 8ish hours without a chance to come in. Was awful as I had only one layer and wasn’t dressed to be out. Happenstance sure got the last laugh. Emergency don’t always give time to prepare.

All is well, some coworkers didn’t fare as well. They were pretty miserable—looked like smurfs. Had to put them in my work truck to warm, blue skin is painful but got it stopped before it turned charcoal gray. They shouldn’t have pins and needles more than a few days.

After "0" there are no more numbers. Just "stupit cold."
I don't bother with wind chill temps, simply because I'm fully dressed for cold by 20* or so. Everything's covered by that point.

Once I worked at night in -12*, and was opening layers to cool down. The cell phone in my pocket was not warm enough, was on strike when I looked at it next...
