I tell my wife to look out for meat marked down at the grocery store. You’ll often see stuff marked down 50% the day before the « best by » date. I only do it for beef and pork, not chicken. She found this nice 2.5 pork loin roast. Ended up being $3.50. So I decided to make some peameal bacon. Pics: cure, slice, fry, sandwich.
I’ve had good luck smoking meat like that in the oven. Just need to put the oven into “sabbath” mode. looks delish
