It’s got a compound leaf, so we know it’s got to be good. ;)

    Wood looks like a winner

I got a decent load so I’ll probably find out that it’s not good firewood, or needs a decade to dry.

It’s not Locust and I have not looked at the FHC chart to see if it’s decent wood. It looked good, so I hoarded it. Looking to see if any of y’all are familiar with this tree. The patch I cut them out of are the only ones I’ve ever seen.

My guess is something in the hickory family.

I'm sure others will have a more definitive answer

I checked and it is not in the Junglandaceae family. Thank for playing though!

Don’t know that I’ve seen this one before. Most Hickory I deal with has whitish wood. There is a Red Hickory. Could that be it? How many leaves are on each cluster?

Ok another hint. Apparently it was used extensively in the past as a street tree.

It is not a Hickory and I didn’t count the # of leaflets. Wood looks pretty sweet though. It is dense yet light

Bark and wood look like some types of walnut but the ones that are prolific in my area look a bit different.

I’m confident someone on here is going to get it straight away, because they were planted all over their state.

Not a cherry. I’ll give the late afternoon crowd a shot at it before I give up another hint.
