First cut in the new oak & ash I took off the stump this spring. Chain was still throwing decent chips after 3 tanks. I ran out of fuel at the same time I ran out of steam... how does that happen... Papadave got me on the Ibu for breakfast, before bulling idea. Feel good after 4 hours. Normally be diving for it right now.

When I stopped, this is what the chain was still cutting.

What a treat cutting with a Pete chain... cool with a little breeze in the shade... logs up off the ground a bit...

I'd like to see more pictures of that contraption on the front of your quad. I'm always looking for good ideas on those.

The box works pretty good. 3/4" plywood, glued and screwed together, 4 coats of Thompson's Water Seal. Used a router to make the 90 degree radius slots for clamping bolts to ride in. The 4 eyebolts on the box double as those clamp bolts. Loosen them a bit and the sides go down to maybe 70 degrees. Enough to get long poles/stuff in and to make it easier to grab stuff in the box. I'll see if I can find a couple pics.

Had tires on last summer. I want to get down in the woods here this summer, where the tires could get cut pretty easy. Same up at the cabin. That terrain is really hard on tires, in where all the small wood is. Tracks are pretty rugged.

I never would have believed a chain could go from so bad to so good. Unreal.

I want to start splitting right now... but, I'm going to wait until I can get the floor area done on an additional bay off the end of the woodshed. Even if I don't get the roof done before I start splitting, at least I can split and carry bucket loads or trailer loads right over and stack em. I enjoy the process a lot when I'm not moving splits twice, three, four times. Where I'm bucking the logs is out of the way so... it works. It's pouring out right now... that bugs me sumthin wicked... wood gettin wet an all... ;) Better put the addition on the fronter burner.

I expected the blackflies to eat me alive this morning since I've got em going mowing, but, no sweat. Had Sawyer's on the clothes and Deep Woods cologne on... add flying wood chips, and I suppose they decided to take my blood another time. A few skeeters too. Looks like I lucked out with the rain. What a perfect morning to cut. Cool breeze, really nice.

    Looking good
A sharp chain makes cutting a whole lot more fun ! eh?

How do the tracks do on the grass, tear it up much ?

Yeah, Pete's really helped me enjoy cutting a lot more now.

You know how the rear tires on an ATV rip up grass on a tight turn... the tracks are much worse. I just go straight ahead all the time... ;)

I bet now it's easy to tell when the chain gets dull & time to file or swap out.
I cut about a cord per sharpening, file at night after trailer unloaded & supper. Ready for the next trip.

I kick mine into 2 wheel drive, but still on weak grass it still leaves tire marks.
The main yard is tougher grass & it don't seem to do much damage.

been so dry, mosquitoes not bad so far :)

That's a bunch of rounds you got bucked up Stinny! Lot of bending over, but a sharp chain makes all the difference.

You have a bunch of wood now to split and stack and even more to buck up. Feels good though doesn't it.
