I was fortunate to take this big guy tonight, 9 pt, 170# field dressed, archery. My first buck in 8+ yrs.

Here's some better pictures. Also, this was the first deer I've ever caped for a mount by myself. Last one was done by a butcher. Taxidermist said "This is great. I wish all my clients would do such a nice job." That made my day 'cuz it took me a long time and lots of blood and sweat - fortunately no tears. 20201115_165641.jpg 20201115_134207.jpg

Yes, I only hunt on my own property, archery only. I've been luck enough to take a doe or two for the freezer each year (knock on wood), but in 12+ yrs hunting here I've only taken 2 buck. I know they cruise through here, especially during rut, but I just don't have the time to really try to target trophies. I'm perfectly happy as a meat hunter.

Too far from me to be one of the ones that ravished my yard and garden this year.
    But congrats anyway.

For those who like numbers, a quick green score was 112 4/8". This guy I took 8 yrs ago was 131 2/8, one less point but really long tines.

2 of the garden eating sob's in my yard. These pictures are taken out my bedroom windows. One is about 10 yards awy the other about 30. Too bad this is considered an urban area or my freezer would be overflowing. There's a herd of 8 that just keeps getting bigger. Some nieghbors are feeding them. Not sure if thats keeping them around or not but I wish they would stop

But what happens when they run 40 yards and drop in the neighbor's front yard?

Congrats on the buck. And neat to hear the meat hunter comment

I’d happily take a doe or younger buck for meat. In my area though it’s tougher to get a doe license than a buck.

Nice buck Mike. I missed the buck of a lifetime in rifle season. Pretty sure he's Stihl around.
