    Hey,
I'm looking to pick up a hand tool to clean out brambles from trails in my woodlot. I have a lot of wild blackberry bushes and need something to do clean up on trails. Not for extensive use, I have brushcutter for that. But if I'm hiking around and run into a patch, I'd like something light to clean up the path.

I see Fiskars has a brush axe. But I kind of want a longer blade or handle (I'm 6'6') to swing around. The Fiskars looks a little short.

Machete...maybe, but I don't think it gets low enough.

    cheers.

I have the Fiskers XA3 brush hook and it is great for clearing blackberry bushes, but it is a little short at 20". I would like to get the XA23 it's 35" long and has a slightly thicker blade.

That one would fit the bill....but they only sell the short one in Canada (XA3).

I have the Fiskars brush axe and it works great for clearing out branches on a path. It would require a lot of bending over if you are clearing at ground level.

Thanks Dancan. Handle looks a bit short though. Might drop in the store to check it out. I like the design

The handle is tapered where if fits up on the head and then held in with a bolt (That will make sense when you have one in hand) I can't see it being difficult to make up a longer handle to suite what you want .
    It's a shame you're not closer , I'd let you try mine .
