Well, vicariously through my brother anyway... My brother took me to Ontario Gas BBQ, apparently the worlds largest BBQ and grill store to pick up his new smoker. All I can say is wow. He rented a motorcycle trailer to haul it home. It's behemoth. It weighs 675 lbs. I told him he should have got the big one He is burning it in now and tommorow with some charcoal, cherry, maple and peach wood. He gave me his Bradley smoker with about 40 lbs of wood pucks; all it needs is a good cleaning and the computer disk thingy will work again. I'm going up to his place next week for some smoked chicken. Drool
Steve. That's a good looking offset. Can't wait to see it with a little blue smoke billowing out the stack. And some ribs inside!
Yeah, I've been at Ontario Gas BBQ. It's Q heaven. It's a Q superstore with Aisles dedicated to books, spices, rubs, tools etc.. And your gear is definitely a medium size compared to some of the big 'un they have over there. There's even a section dedicated to charcoal, at least 30 different brands of them. For those into Q, it's definitely worth the pilgrimage. BTW, please post pics of it smokin' and cooking.
I saw one VERY similar to that at Bass Pro IIRC. It was very well built and would last a lifetime. It wasn't cheap either! Have fun with it!!!
You are correct, It's a Horizon. Bass Pro Canada doesn't stock it, and it would have been $500 to ship it up here from the US with no guarantees as to how much he would have to pay in duty at the border.
Ok, first meat on the new smoker: My brother didn't realize these ribs were boneless until he got them home, but he did them up as if there were bones and they turned out fine. (*Edit* they are on the smoker now.) Next up: pork back ribs
