Bookmarks would be a handy feature to save posts/threads so you can refer to them again when you need them.. Ray
Can you save the thread in your browser favorites in a separate folder? Maybe not quite what you are looking for, but might be able to save something. Gary
What I want is to keep favorites within the forum for future reference. I.E. a thread on how to replace a door gasket or similar.. Know what I mean? Would also be handy if others needed that info and you could refer them to it..
How about if you replied to a chimney thread with some like raybonzchimney (one word) then could you use the search function of the site? Gary
Gary I appreciate your feedback however I don't want to jump through hoops to do simple things.. What I am suggesting is right beside where it says "new posts" I want to add "bookmarks" or "personal bookmarks" that every user can refer to their own bookmarks. I guess you could say I can be pretty geeky and have been into computers since the internet was all text and no graphics but not everyone is geeky so the idea is to make things user friendly so everyone will use these features.. In my opinion user friendly is the way to go. Ray
I'm sure it can be done, as other Forums with Xenforo have a Bookmark tab up top. I just don't know what that entails. I did like that function myself. Bookmarking threads that have info you want to link to often, is a great feature. Hopefully it's looked into
In the old country, I had many of the threads I did that contained useful info set as public bookmarks.
I'll see what I can do in the software, if its possible I'll add the feature. I myself like to bookmark things..... Good suggestion, Ray!
Ray, I looked all through the admin panel for our software and I cannot find any 'bookmark' feature......I'll email the software developer and see if it's even an option, or if we can somehow make it happen....
http://xenforo.com/community/resources/bookmarks.272/updates Don't know if this is the latest version or how much in USA dollars..
When it come to add-ons that cost $$, we (staff) should probably make a "Want list" and discuss each once things settle down a bit. Folks-- Adam is busting his AZZ behind the scenes to renovate the clubhouse!
This wish has been granted. I found a free Russian add-on that was free, did a little translating and here we are! In the bottom right corner of each post (next to reply and top) you can bookmark/unbookmark posts. All bookmarks are private unless you explicitly click them to make them public. Your bookmarks show up under your user tab (see them highlighted in orange?) In the bookmarks list you can click to unbookmark, edit, or make you bookmark public. When you click a bookmark in your list this screen summarizing the bookmark appears. At the bottom you can view the specific post or thread or you can unbookmark the post. Finally, if you click edit from your bookmarks list you can bring up this window. Here you can add not, make you bookmark public, and 'tag" or categorized it.
