Have someone looking for black locust cookies to use as pavers in her garden. Anyone ever sell these? Whats a good/average price per piece say 12" diameter 2-3" thick?
I wasn't bullchittin! Custom chainsaw work brings high dollar in the right market. Or in my case multiple cases of Premium for a couple 2' cherry rounds.
If the customer came to you, they are ready to buy. I would rather make the sale than be greedy and miss out. How about something like $.50 an inch diameter? 12” =$6 that’s not to far off price of a regular paver.
No. I figure the market is flooded already. I’m sitting in literally tons of milled boards but I doubt I’d move much if listed.
Sounds very fair IMO. Luckily i have some BL round unsplit on hand. The bigger ones i quartered to load. I do have access to uncut BL (no surprise here)
Sold a few oak cookies a few years ago Brad. a lady wanted some for her daughters wedding. She wanted them with the bark on. She took some red and white oak and maybe even a couple of mulberry. I don't even remember for sure what I charged but maybe $2-3 a piece. She did give me an extra $20.
Brad I sell a lot of those mostly 2"thick 2.5o each unless a real quantity of them I sold 1000 of mixed size 6''-10'' 1 3/4 thick for 1.75 each to one of my regular locust customers, I clamp a log on the sawmill and can cut them pretty fast makes a nice disc I forgot Brad he sets them in screenings and mulches them with cypress mulch it looks nice when finished I will see if I can get a picture JB
Well, I'm an idiot. I've been burning those things for years after chain tests etc. Guess I'll see if the garden center out front wants some.
Sliced up some cookies yesterday. Lady wanted 10 BL and some cedar ones too. I pulled some cookies out of the bin (not pictured) that were a cool shape (stump cut offs i think) One had a cool knot hole cut three on the diagonal I charged her $50. Ive been thinking about selling them on CL/FBM.
...but of course. Ill hook Ron up. Ill let him buck them with the 500i! Ill be seeing you some time tomorrow Ron?
