This was a widowmaker until another storm brought it down, once I haul the split maple down from up top I'll get this taken care of. I think this is a soft maple.
Its a never-ending task. Ill have to see later in the week what new stuff came down in todays cold front.
That's a secondary route once I get up top so it needs to be open. It is a good size limb, it will help fill out this last stacking area.
Most of it is rotten hemlock, there is a good piece of maple up in that area in a crotch of another tree. That corner up top is a mess.
the never-ending saga....get one cleaned up, and three more fall down.... You'll be set for a long long time Woody!
I guess it's safe to say mother nature will put down more, it's time I make another stacking area. I'll get it done, one clump at a time.
I have a hill you and overkill can work, Sav already said he would be boss, if you lose your footing you'll end up in the brook.
I plan on milling the pine behind the trailer in the next two weeks, the trails need clearing for the sleds.
Kinda like this one? This is the "lot" that we cleared for the church 3 weeks ago......8 big trees, three were REALLY big Norway maples, all on a steep slope.....all the trees you see are gone now (some of them are split up and laying in my "overrun" pile in the garden!) I can work on uneven ground, I have the stomach for it.....
So you're a member of the sidehill gougers! http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/animals/comments/4357/
Zap there were 8 big trees, probably around 7 or 8 smaller ones (small walnuts and maples) around the size of softball in diameter.... Ended up with two heaping dump trailers full of splits, two flatbed single axle trailers full of big rounds, and two truckloads packed full of splits..... I only took one trailerload of rounds and a truckful of splits. Gave the rest to the one guy who helps the scouts all the time (good friend of mine who helped on the ground that day)
This is the cherry on the side of the hill, if you roll the rounds down they'll end up in picture number 7980.
I have been working on cleaning up downed trees on the property since we bought it last year. It does seem never ending!
That's for sure, you get things almost cleaned up, then mother nature makes more work. That's ok, the last time the oil truck came up the driveway...... I think it was December of 08. We also use 50 bags of pellets per year.
