The GF and I were out last Sunday and today.

There are 4 standing dead red oaks near the barn that have been on the cut list so we started last Sunday.
The GF was antsy to start the splitter. It had been down a couple weeks because someone broke a couple engine parts with a flying piece of wood. Anyway I cut some fallen hickory up quickly and sent her on her way.

Then I cut down a couple of small red oaks and cut them up. You can see one in the background behind the 440.

Then I cut down a 28" black oak and got started cutting it up.

Then today we got back into it and I finished cutting up the oak and hand splitting it into workable pieces for the GF.

Had to keep getting wood to the barn to feed the splitter.

There are so many cool trucks out there. Just wish I had more time to work in the woods!

    You too.

I am going to try to get everything that I cut loaded and moved tomorrow ahead of the storm Monday.

Nice haul there! That red oak looks so good in the back of the truck. No big deal to hand split those big rounds either I bet. :)

It started getting hard once the diameter got into the mid 20"s and I had to split each round into 6 pieces.:axe:

I took 4 advil and I have the heating pad hooked up to my lower back.

I too love the truck, and the saw, and the oak... Someone should open a FHC bar, and serve Vicodin, Beer, Lefties and heating pads. Only recliners and a giant stone fireplace, no bar stools. French maid servers... Sorry, drifted away there for a minute.:drunk:

Yeah, my grandfather must have gotten a free load of railroad ties at some point and built that fence.

Good work farmer. Looks like you won't be hurting for good firewood in the future. Nice woods.

Thanks, I always have plenty of standing dead and blow down to choose from in my woods. I am spoiled I guess.

This broken in half White Oak is 30 yards away from the big red in the photos. I am a bit worried it will be a bear to split due to how twisted the trunk is. I shot a turkey; just about where I am standing to take the photo, a couple years ago. Kind of a bummer I can't use that tree as a landmark anymore.

I got all the remaining wood moved, and had time to start in on a fallen Scarlet Oak, but no pics due to a dead phone.

Always a shame to see the white oaks go.
