My dad and I were talking about pickaroons a couple days ago. He gave me mine quite awhile back. I told him how much I liked it and how it saved my back.

He said he probably had another one in his barn he'd give me and he would take a peek.

Got home from working yesterday and he had dropped off 2 big bow saws, 2 pickaroons, 3 pick axes, a pitchfork, pair of loopers, and an old homie trimmer that hasn't ran in ages. Pretty good score, now I've got some work to do bringing them all back to life!!

Nice haul! My parents have started giving me things every time I see them now too. We went through my great grandparents barn looking for an old 2-man saw, but we think my aunt might have it. I got dibs on a set of horse drawn logging sleds though - and found this axe. I'm going to restore it and hang it above the stove next to my grandfather's old bow saw.

I cleaned the rust off of the head with a wire wheel, and decided not to do much else to it. It needs a new handle, but this one has nice patina and it says "Collins". So just a little linseed oil on that, and it was ready to hang. :D

Looks like its always been there! :)

That looks great Shawn...I really like those old tools as well. I'm working on setting up a wall in my garage with some as I get them looking good. My dad has so much neat old stuff it's mind boggling. He grew up not long after the depression, nothing was wasted or thrown out.
He's in that giveaway mode now and I'm the recipient:thumbs:
