The other evening this dude landed in my neighbors tree. It only was there for a minute or so. Best photo I could get with my phone. The sun had just gone down.

Its not too suprising as we are about 5 miles as the 'Eagle' flies from the Hudson River. They have also been nesting in some not so pristine places nearby like by the NJ Turnpike in the Meadowlands, but its still pretty cool to see at my house.

I think it is in its 3rd-4th year as its body wasn't solid brown yet its head was white.

Ironic that I was watching a hummingbird on my feeder when I saw the eagle land out of the corner of my eye.

Nice. Had one land on the Interstate in front of me a week ago. Got quite close to it.

You mention hummingbirds and the last one left us for his trip south just a few days ago. The males left in late August and females the first week of September. Young all gone now.

Jeez, it looks like a turkey. Just with a big 'ol white head.

My humming bird feeders are being put away today. Haven't seen one in about a week.

I'll let them sit in a bucket of wate, with some bleach. A good rinse and dry, and into storage.

We still have hummers coming to the feeder. Won't be long before they are gone.

I have not seen a hummer for 4 days or so. Seems to me that in the past they have been here in early October.

This year is anything but ordinary. late spring frost, hot dry summer, and now early frost. Not a good year to remember at all.
We have those Eagles here. They are always above the river fishing. lots of fish in the Kennebec river.
