Finally got around to replacing the damaged OAK pipe. Started by trying to cut out the damaged section and salvage the rest with a coupler. It was easy enough to cut out the damaged part, but as I got more into it I quickly determined the entire pipe would need to be replaced. This pipe is what's included with the Duravent 3PVP-AIK kit. From a durability standpoint, it's about 1 step above Reynolds Wrap. I couldn't believe how easily it just started unrolling and coming apart. Also any place where the pipe had been expanded and collapsed, it was starting to come apart with visible air holes at each junction. The new replacement pipe is a section of 2" aluminum flex from supply house, and appears to be significantly better quality and more durable (and much more reasonably priced to boot). The adapter you see on the end is an automotive silicon coupler that cost $5 on ebay. It makes a perfect air tight fit between the flex pipe and the hormoan air intake flange.
Great looking repair. Hope the dog does not rip up the new pipe.....ya may have to install some schedule 80 steel pipe
If it gets chewed again, I'd suggest a local sheet metal shop roll you some tin plate into a cylinder the dia. & length needed to cover that flex pipe.
Good job! If he eats this one......hardline steel! PVC might work too. This isnt at all uncommon though...it happens!
