If you need to vent a bit, just thought I'd throw this one out there. Day-to-day stuff, nothing political or legal.-stay with the basics ( traffic, customers, suppliers, retail clerks, phone solicitations, ..this sort of thing, you get the gist. Keep it clean, please.) I'll start... Today, independent customer we did a small job for-(less than $750.00) wants a detailed job breakout. Not a material/ labor, but how much time it took to fabricate and install each item. No chit. Oh yeah-... this was done on a Sat., no O/T charges were incurred on his billing statement. He stated the welding was done by one guy, at the appropriate rate, but not paying that same rate for the "helper" who was there finishing the install. The "helper" is our shop foreman, the most capable guy in the shop. I had even knocked off an hour before the final billing, after a verbal complaint from this person. After a few e-mails and a single phone call, this person is a first for me- the first customer I've ever stated that they were full of total BS. and I said it plainly to them. Now, off to small claims court. Anyone else ?
Bad mood days for me are generally induced by working 7 days a week, and of the 7, three of them are doubles. I have 2 jobs and one of them is construction. Construction is busy right now. Often enough it's lack of sleep that is the "bad mood" culprit. My wife will call me on Monday and Tuesday afternoons before I come home to 'sense' the mood so she's prepared. It sucks, but it's not for long. Back to one job again shortly.
Think I've gotta defend the customer on this Beetle. Nothing wrong with a detailed statement and as far as a helper goes, most would expect the helper's wages to be less than the primary tech's wages. Now with that being said, I would also defend your position. Sounds like the guy didn't pay anything if you're heading to small claims? Probably had intentions like that to begin with. Still received services, right? The guy could/should have paid something. Good luck.
When I weld or fix a vehicle the person doesn't get there project or truck until payed in full but I tell them this up front so if they don't like it they can go else where. My dad was a hell of a mechanic an welder an he lost his a$$ because people would do what u said in your thread.if some one helps me with a project they get payed what I get payed.
Have to confess that a bad mood day for me right now is a distant thing. Retiring after Tuesday makes it hard to be po'd about anything. My IS, as hard as it is these days to make it go, don't overwhelm yourself to the point that your bride has to feel you out to know how to deal with you. Believe me, money is NOT everything. Family, health and your own physical and mental well being need to take precedent over all material things. If you beat yourself down to the point where you're capable of working 0 jobs or your family suffers the effects of over stress, what have you accomplished? Remember, your here for a short time, so have a good time each and every day. You get no bonus points for being the richest guy in the cemetery.
My bad mood was at 11:00 pm last night. My daughter made cupcakes over at my mom's. My mom also made a batch of homemade sour pickles. Both were great but pickles and cupcakes don't go well together. Well, maybe to a pregnant woman they would. I should have known better.
Last Saturday I needed to be at church at 9:00 in the morning for a Mass which was being said for my sister who died last summer. My wife and youngest son were out of town and the other two are off at college. My wife told my 18yo son the night before to make sure he hung up keys for me for one of the cars since they were taking mine while they were away. I got up and headed out the door and couldn't find one key for any of the three cars sitting here (we have a beater for each of our three children for their summer and part time jobs.) All the spare keys were in my son's pocket. Argh!!!
