So when life gives you lemons....This tree took out a section of fence and KO’d my trailer. But yielded a good score of Ash. We have a lot of Ash around here. Darn EAB killed all of it off.

Here’s what we started with a few weeks ago.

I had the day off today. Thank you Vets for your service!

    Started the saw at 8AM.

Long story short, glad I brought my equipment back from VT; I used it all!

This was pretty big wood. I have an 28” bar on the ol MS250:

Fun fact: MS250 is 10 years old and runs like a champ. It’s slightly over bared with the 18” on there and it’s a great saw overall. I really like having it.

I haven’t split Ash in awhile and forgot what a pleasure it is. Just about all of the big rounds where in half with 1-3 blasts of the Fiskars. Totally enjoyable splitting!

    Got some good BTUs today!

It’s really a shame what the EAB has done. These are some really good trees. Sad to see them drop so prematurely. At least this wood isn’t going to waste.

Productive day! 25,000 steps, lots of wood split/stacked, leaves raked gutters cleaned and pellet stove vac’d out.

Anyone near Wallingford, CT want this? Axle is still good.

Fence. Should be an easy fix.

Like the work done, and future BTUs, but I can't like the wrecked trailer.

Ironically, I was looking into getting a new trailer. I’ve had that one 15 years and it needs some work; decking, stakes, wiring and painting. I’m into it for under $350at this point. So it’s paid for itself!

Nice little stack! Bark was holding on pretty good yet. Too bad about the fence and trailer. At least it wasnt the house.
250 is a good saw. How much do you cut annually?

That's a shame about the trailer. Can you fix it? Or perhaps you want a heavier trailer, which is needed if hauling wood.

    Brad,
I'd say about a cord a year? It's hard to say. With my neighbor in VT supplying me with wood, I've been cutting more over the last 12 months.

    Dennis,
Perhaps! I may be able to get new metal for that front part. But I also think the main frame may be tweaked a bit. Probably not worth the effort at this point. given the age and what I have into it. It's 15 years old and I'm into it for about $300/$350.

Ash is my favorite wood. It’s relatively easy to come by here too. It’s a shame about the trailer though!
