Are you seeing any sales at the New England Big Box Stores this Spring?

In New England, we are coming off a warmer winter than normal. There might be a surplus of wood pellets
at some stores. If you see any Spring sales at the big box stores, would you please post that
    information here? Thanks

I don't burn pellets but our local big box store with the orange roof was out last time a co worker went to get some there. This was early last week.

I'll. Check, but after the big fire sale years ago, most Box stores have cut their inventories each year, and sell out way before season ends. But there can be hope for 1 or 2 tons, not the truckloads like 2016 .

this time of year, the BB's tend to not get any more product in, this way they don't have to divest themselves of product in another month or so. Given the warmer weather we are seeing, you guys might have to actually buck up and go to a hearth retailer ( :jaw: ) for product to get you through....that being said, we usually get calls from the BB's asking if we have product, and they send people over, but so far, we haven't seen that.

BTW, new Vermont analysis numbers are out....and if believed, and they can sustain the numbers, its a monstrously good analysis, which could easily rival DF's!

Yeahmy local Agway is about 25 miles from NEWP's plant. I can't believe that is a sale price - would have believed that it was regular though. I haven't burned them since the 2015/2016 season, but unless they have gotten better, can't believe they get that price. Okie Plats are available for about the same price ($299/ton) at the local Aubuchon's and although fairly ashy, they do run on the hot side. Plus the TSC that is on the outskirts of town (the other direction) that are much cheaper fro MWP's (which in my mind are about the same ash/heat wise).

Although, I believe Agway is the only one that delivers, so that is a consideration.

yea, I get that....free delivery for 3 tons or more has value......but the April price will post lower, so I don't think its all that great. We are 2 hours away from the Jaffrey plant and are $299/ton right now....cant give you an idea what Spring pricing will be yet.......no numbers except from a couple suppliers. Plus, we never deliver for free, but often do half price delivery specials in the Spring

I'm not even talking about free delivery - I'm talking about delivery at all.

I'm pretty sure the local Aubuchon's doesn't deliver, nor does the TSC (although I believe they have a trailer that can be rented). I wouldn't bet that they'll go lower either. The local stores don't tend to do spring sales as they just put leftovers in the back of their lots and sell them next fall. Time will tell though. Not like I'm looking for pellets anyway, just thought the price to be high for being on sale - thus the use of the laughing icon in my original post.

Just picked up a couple tons of newps for 3.50 a bag, based on that price, I should sit in front of the store and sell mine off. Undercut them, and still make a profit!

my dealer has a early spring buy coming up..
2 week window to buy ahead for next season..
i usually order 4 tons and get half the load in july or so..
try to stay ahead so that at spring shutdown i still have 3 tons left and room for 2 tons in summer.

as far as box store surplus, HD/WallyWorld here pulls the pellets end of february and out comes the grills and lawn furniture.. don't buy pellets there but always notice what they have.
Green Supremes [ Lignetics Umbrella]]have now replaced the "Mighty stove chows.." [Energex Umbrella].

No spring sales coming up here.
Just trying to hold prices at current levels,
even though there have been some increases.
Freight kills us on brands from the northwest.
While there will be no "sales",
we too usually offer $19 delivery special, for a limited time..
Currently Matra is $299, LaCrete is $289, LG is $288,
    to name a few..

I think if anyone sees a "sale", it may be to get rid of stuff,
to make room for fertilizer and bark mulch.
    That said..
I know whenever some people here (like me) talk about "deals", or price increases,
Some think it's to drum up business, or scare people.
Not true at all.. We have never, nor will we ever, do that. Believe that.
    Because we don't have to.
So far.. we know, and have been told, that prices are going up.. maybe a lot.
    Nobody is committing.
If you do not think there is a problem in the wood world,
do a search for a 2x4 at BBS... Do one for 7/16ths OSB.
I about crapped my pants when I saw them.
A $2.85 2x4x8 just short time ago, is now pushing NINE freakin dollars.
    A $10 sheet of OSB, is now $37 !!!!!!!!!! a 2x8x10.. 20 bucks!!!
So think what you want... and I sure hope it does not happen.
But right now.. this is real.. I know where my stimulus is going...
