Weather permitting ….. I'm going to do our Turkey on the grill/smoker. Gonna cook it slow, 325* "but" throw a hint of smokey maple wood from time to time. I just picked up my fresh bird at our local meat market, 16lb for three of us…. I'm gonna be a fat Ba$tard "again"
Yup, tomorrow morning! My batteries went dead in the little camera or I would have taken some of the Stew! Half gone already!
Can't wait to see it. All this turkey cooking is starting to get to me. I will have to buy a chicken and roast it. No turkeys on sale until the middle of Dec. around here.
0800, 28 degrees out, Three nice splits of maple, 15lb charcoal, 16lbs of bird headed for smoker/cooker….. Time for a beer , OK Well Seasoned, I held up my end of the bargain
You look like the proudest man alive with that bird in your hand Dave. Almost like its your newborn baby. I love it and can't wait to see that bird when it's done.
I haven't screwed it up yet, but there is always a first time, that old smoker has got hundreds of hours of smoke and grill time. It takes alot to mess something up in that, it cooks so slow.
Now we're talking Dave! Thanks for posting the pics BEFORE I ate. Now I'm really hungry. Looks like you did everything like a pro with the bird. You and your family enjoy the meal! HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!
Thanks WS, it's basic and simple, "in my opinion" the best way. HAPPY THANKSGIVING Oh, pics after it's done….
SWEET! still have a while to go on the ham (9lb) probe reading 106 in the heart of the ham, looking to get to about 170-175 before i'll be satisfied its cooked through first time using this particular probe set so im looking a bit higher than normal
Looking real good Dave. Really nice golden color. That's going to taste so good. Unfortunately, I cant look at it anymore. Im soooo full of turkey right now.
