Yes that is with an AR, the CMP allows you to shoot in the following categories Garand, Springfield, Vintage and Modern Military. Of these modern military is by far the most popular and are 20:1 AR to everything else. I personally love the M-1 but my pocket and shoulder doesn’t after 65 round match x2.

Another example but this was at 500 yards. 851065CA-F4CC-4EBE-9A54-CD58E06D2D73.png

Are those 1" ring spacing ? I tried to look up standard CMP target sizing but didn't find anything past 200 yrds.

None of mine will do that, at that distance. But none are tuned up outside of minor mods., they're just bullet hoses for the time being. I've sold 3 in the last 60 days, the most accurate was a .300 AAC pistol. 10.5" bbl, 1.125" 3-shot groups at 100 yrds. with a 150gr. soft point it seemed to like.

Yeah a 300 black isn't really a great long range caliber, good for closer up stuff. Same goes for a pistol;). Those are good groups though for that gun though.

    Beetle-Kill targets are all 1 MOA per ring. At 100 the X is 1” and 10 ring is 2” at 500 the X is 5” and 10 ring is 10” at 600 the X is 6” and 10 ring is 12”

Thanks, that makes sense. I wasn't sure about the graduated scale.

I really liked that one, but after a bit I was like- "Why?" Then one of our supervisors saw it and made an offer. So one less caliber to look for, especially since I'm looking at Glock G40's and I don't have a 10mm currently. No rush on that one though, just a thought for the future...

Working on a 6.5 Grendel currently myself. I wanted something in the AR-15 platform for hunting that offered more energy than 223/556.

There's also the 6.8 SPC. Super long range, no it's not great, but out to 300yrds the SPC is a great deer sized game gun.

I finally added an AR pistol to the mix. 10.5“ upper from bear creek arsenal. The lower is a PSA.

This is the first one I've put together myself. I bought the lower a couple years ago just because, and just recently bought a full PSA kit. Assembly took about an hour with the help of a youtube video.
7.5" 300blk. I added a Holosun red dot, flip up irons, and a linear compensator. The biggest news is that I found ammo for it in stock and at a decent price.

I like the wood scrap assembly bench:)

I see you and GrJfer both use the grips with the storage in them. How much room is in those? I just have a milspec standard grip to put on my x39 for now.

Room in the grip allows a few extra batteries for optics, maybe a front sight post adjustment tool if you can squeeze it all in without a rattle.
    Usable space for sure.

Honestly, I hate to sounds like a snob about it, but the days of the $600 complete rifle are far behind us. We've seen "the cheapening", and the results are not good. I spent $700 just on my upper. It's from a manufacturer with a reputation for quality/reliability, not "great deals" or bargain builds. $950 should get you a nice rifle. That'd be $1500-2000 from companies known by their abbreviations (BCM, SOLGW, LMT, POF, etc.)

Personally, I like Windham Weaponry, Sig, and Colt.

6.5 Grendel upper from sergeant of arms arrived this week. Hope to get some rounds through it this weekend, still debating scope options. For now here's a little bit of teaser photo.

Love the "out of stock" disclaimer. I've been to that Thornton outlet many times, great store. Thanks for the link.
I did receive current pricing on some M&P's down in Buena Vista, running $800 or so. My deal is I want to off-load a few more, so higher retail pricing is to my benefit.

Really curious how you like that one. It's a good looking rifle.
