It is the synthetic light weight bearing oil that Dr Whitfield recommends for the small motors in all of his stoves. He should know?
GHinNH , since you mentioned being cheap (like a lot of us..LOL), the cheaper alternate that works just fine...$2.18 on Amazon:
Just because I call the dump my hardware store you don't have to call me names! Who was laughing yesterday when I dropped a 8mm washer nut holding a car battery down and I had a genuine John Deere nut in the bag that I got from there. HA! (seriously I did) I'm probably over analyzing things because that's what traveling the country working on machinery did to me, well... maybe some OCD too BUT, for the sake of nothing better to do at the moment, 10-30 synthetic has a open cup flash point of 457F. The 3in1 blue can is a "mineral" oil, and it has a flash point of 350F. No I don't really think it would ever get that hot, but my brain says that the prolonged 200+ degree exposure would probably make it not last very long? Soooo anyway, being familiar with the insides of stuff that use synthetic oil, I would prefer to stick with it, but I certainly will look for a 20 weight when I'm bored.
I have and use both of those....seem to have good results with both as far as I can tell. I tend to stick with the 465 on bearings and the blue 3 in 1 on bushing types.
