I've been moving a little bit into the shed here and there over the last few weeks. A mix of red alder, Doug fir, and bigleaf maple equalling 3.5 cords. Most of it was cut last summer and fall. Then in the long rack out front I have a PNW grab bag of alder, maple, paper birch, hemlock, and Doug fir stacked 2 rows deep for another 2 cords. This stuff was cut in March. On average I burn 3-4 cords a year. I busted a half dozen pieces open and stuck a meter on them. All 16-20%. AND, 99% of it is cut about 13" long for N-S loading in my insert. The only longer pieces are the ones I used to crib the ends of a couple stacks. This will be my 6th winter in my house and the best wood supply so far.
