Should have half your wood and half your hay by ground hog day.....sounds like you are not too far off.

Nice "lean to", I'm embarrassed to post a pic of mine near that...but I'm about half too.

That's just about exactly what I'm piling up pine logs/poles to try to build.

Dry space with three sides for wind, looks good to me.

Mine was created by having it built along side my pole barn. Guys added itin for cheaper than the materials alone would have cost me. Have one on other side identical for keeping splitters out of the weather. All I did was pour the slab and install 3/4 inch treated along wall so I wouldnt mess up the siding by throwing wood.

Greg, I was thinking that about 2 days ago that we should be about half way right now. Yes, the Ground Hog day is the one that gets the stories but January 15-20 is closer to the truth at least in this area. If it is half way, then we have not used half of what we've planned on, thanks to a mild December.

I believe the old-timers used to say "Half your wood and half your hay by MLK day"

Apparently January 14th is considered the meteorological mid point of winter and that sounds about right for around here. Winter temperatures have been very average around here but I feel like we had a unusually cold October/November. I should hit the mid point of my wood some time this week.

I have gone through a lot more wood this year than I anticipated. I agree, October and November were uncommonly cold, even down here. We usually get a "January Thaw" by the end of the month, sometimes first week of February--then all heck breaks loose with snow.
