Just returned from Penobscot County Maine. A week in the North Maine Woods was a breath of fresh air for the soul. No deer shot, but I found this shed. After pondering what it may be from, and coming to an initial conclusion, I have changed my mind. I saw a pic of an animal taken by a hunter in that area and it matched this quite well. What do you think; Whitetail or Moose? shedmaine.jpg

I say Moose for sure. Seen many in that area 1-2 year olds. Great fishing in the River north of stinkin Lincon to. Never got a Moose tag but hunted bear and deer out of Harry's lodge for many years.

With so few deer there, its almost moose by default.

When I lived in Maine, I saw more bears than deer. I saw more moose than any other 4 legged critters, except for squirrels.

I saw 17 last week, deer that is, no moose. Moose sign, but not really that heavy. This was found in a heavy cut that we had seen a big buck in 3 years ago.
