Seems like this is beech season at the FHC so i decided to go to this beech score ive been nibbling on. It was felled by the May tornado. I had given about a cord of it to my friend as it was a bit gnarly and he has a splitter. Wasnt really crazy about it as the wood was in a big tangle of limbs, vines, thorns etc, but just had to back my P/U in to load. I was bucking the first two logs and noticed another fallen tree covered in English ivy. Turned out to be a cherry 10" CHD still attached to the rootball. 1 1/2 hrs cutting/loading and I ended up with about a half cord! Was only expecting to get the beech, but the cherry was a bonus!
    Nice day to be out...dry and sunny with just a sweatshirt on. IMG_4308.JPG IMG_4309.JPG IMG_4312.JPG IMG_4311.JPG IMG_4314.JPG IMG_4315.JPG IMG_4316.JPG IMG_4317.JPG IMG_4318.JPG

Beech and cherry sounds like a GREAT combination! Great find for sure.

I always wanted to try some nice beech. Lots of them around here, but never any broke or blown over...which is surprising since many of them are BIG and growing on hillsides. I got a half rotten beech one time and it was kind of like sawing into a canoe.

Never had any beech either. Maybe two or three on my entire property. Small and healthy so I’ll need to look elsewhere LOL
