Neighbor dropped 5 decent sized beech not long ago for me. This is the first I have got to. Mostly hollow as you can tell. About 6 ft of the dried up heartwood settled into the trunk, but she is all blocked up. One load to the house of the small 10 inch minus stuff. Love daylight hours after work IMG_4727.JPG IMG_4728.JPG IMG_4729.JPG

    Beech is awesome!

I burn the same stuff!!!Center rot and all!

The hollow peices are annoying to process, but I burned a bunch of it this year!

It's light and easy to split. The solid sections have a ton of wood, but are heavy.

I love getting those hollow pieces. Peel the bark off, soak 'em in some borate solution and they make great planters for a few years (until they finish rotting). The borate keeps the rot and bugs at bay.

Very common for beech but what is left after the rot is really good firewood. And you have 5 of them??? Fantastic. I agree it is nice to have longer daylight hours again.

I have 4 more of these, all of which are 24 inch at the stump. Three are solid, one is kinda hollow. I have three from January in the stacks also. Ad but looking forward to some nice fires this fall.
