A friend borrowed the splitter and made this stack of oak and pyramid of sassafras for his fireplace. Wish I could have been there to smell the new-split sass which has that alluring scent. With no direction from any hoarder, he made these neat stacks. He is very interested in the EPA stove capabilities and watched with interest as I showed him the innards of our IS and how it worked. We may have a future devotee...

I think he has the bug give it 2 years and he will have the whole getup. 3 pro model saws, a splitter and at least one hauler.

First year, I stacked everything on the ground.
Proved quite interesting getting those splits pulled outta the depressions in the ground.......that was frozen.:headbang:
    Live and learn.
He's got the right idea, at least.

Looks like he's having fun with it
    Betting he's gonna get hooked

The oak he stacked will be good in a couple years, & the sass will smell good as it seasons & when it burns :)
It already gives him some prinmo wood look forward to burning then.

    +1 with the pallets ;)

Gave him a couple of FHC Firestarters too, and he noticed the labels on them with our Web address. So hoping he finds his way here, in which case it's all over. No going back at that point. Firewood addiction. Some of his neighbors' trees inexplicably disappear. I am a FHC pusher!

First year I made a cool little stack about 150 feet from the house, admired the heck out of it. Then we got three feet of snow and I post holed it out there all winter, a ten minute trip. Since then the wood is real close right in the dooryard

Good of you to loan him the splitter Gark. I'd like to see that sassafras burning in a fireplace! The sparks can be nasty so I hope he has doors on the fireplace.
