My wife and I moved into our first home five months ago today. It's undergone a bit of a transformation.. My wife calls my ideas "over the top wood thoughts." So far I'm doing well.. 20140411_083914.jpg 20140607_195308.jpg 20140805_195855.jpg 20140805_200615.jpg 20140805_200228.jpg

I know you need pics or it didn't happen but when I took that last pic of the wood pile out back a lightning bolt struck like across the street. I'm OK but my nice cold home from work beer was a casualty. I did have time to run over and unroll the tarp over this year's wood though.. 1407284725111.jpg

    The firewood started stacking up,

What a perfect place to stack firewood. Not too far from the house, some walls, a roof and good drainage - doesn't get better than that.

Nice home and yard. I hope the weight of the wood stack on that terraced wall doesn't cause it to bow or kick out. Keep an eye on it esp. after a heavy rain.

Yeah I've thought about that. I was gonna keep stacking there but didn't want to add more weight. The rack hasn't sunk at all but when that wood is used up I don't think I'm gonna stack there again. Some of it is 3 to 5 year old CSS, but most of it is oak that needs two more summers so it's gonna be there a while. Hopefully I can build a shed over my backyard stacks in the next year or so. If I get the shed built, I may move all of that off the terrace to clean it up a little.
