I was at my regular OPE this week. Two new Stihl MS 461's on the shelf. Thought crossed my mind of buying them as the are NOS and no longer manufactured. Keep them NIB. Wonder what they'll be worth in a few years? I know they are well liked among tree guys. How much is a new MS200 worth these days?

Buy them both right away before someone else snatches them up.

There is definitely no shortage of interest in them on eBay. New ones are getting about 30-40 bids and selling between $1200-1900

Compare the expected sale price in X months or years to any other investment & make a decision based on that. My guess is ROI is way better on the saws with less downside risk. There are many ways to protect your wealth from inflation if you plan well.

Buy them! 70-77 cc class of saws seem to hold their value well. Plus the 461 seems to be very popular. There is alot of guys who run saws for their daily bread who hate the mtronic and autotune stuff.

Wealth protection from inflation sounds like a great excuse for buying another saw. On my way to check out a lead on an 046.

Ok sounds like a legitimate investment strategy.

What model is the other? Looks like it goes back to the LBJ administration.

1956? Remington GL-7 I couldn’t get it to fire. It doesn’t have spark, but it was free, so I couldn’t say no.

Always cool to see an old chain saw of yesteryear. Shelf queen or will you get it running?
Congrats on the 046! How's that one run?

The 046 runs like a champ. I’m not sure what I’ll do with the Remington.

In a way I would say yes. Not sure I'd invest in more than a few, but think about it this way. How much would a brand new 1978 Ford Maverick be worth now as opposed to the original sticker price. That was a cheap little throw away car back then. If you don't wanna buy those saws, pm the dealer info & I'll snag them & throw them on a shelf for a bit & see what happens.
