    Just got back from a trip around town and got some test pellets and a ton of shoulders for the season. Looking for some feedback.

    W D softies. $4.69
    Ozark hardwoods $175/ton
    Easy heats. $3.99
    Cherry pits $4.69 (nice feed sack bags awesome to handle)

    Let me know if any of these are decent because they are cheap around here right now.

    :jaw::bug: At them prices!!

    I've had decent results form the Ozarks, But don't see them much in CT. The WD softies seem like a good bet. Easy Heats don't get much love!! Cherry pits were ashy IMHO.

    I can't speak for the rest but the Easy Heat's are pretty crappy. Tread lightly with those.

    I tried some Ozarks last winter and they were awful for me - very poor heat. I'm jinxed so probably just got a bad batch as always. Let us know how they do for you after you get some burn time with them. Those WDs look interesting, curious to know how they do for you too.

    Edit: Sorry I just re-read your post and noticed you didn't buy any WDs.

    I got 5 wds to try out. They smell nice and piney from the one cheap bag that was broken open. The ozarks definitely smell like oak too.

    Cherry pits do burn hot, just very ashy. Around here, a couple hours from prime cherry growing territory, cherry pits still cost more than pellets.

    I'll echo the rest. The Easy heats were crap for me. The Ozarks were ok. Never burned the wd or the cherry pits. Wonder how the pits made it all the way to you? They could have dropped a few tons at my house on their way past.:whistle:

    This new store seems to be based in Michigan. Makes sense that the WD and pits are both from Michigan in that case. 2 Stores in Michigan, 1 south of Toledo and now one around Youngstown.
    Family Farm and Home. Kind of a mix of a Tractor supply and harbor freight. Lots of stoves (wood/coal/ multi/ and pellets), husky dealer including pro saws, and a bunch of decent clothes and boot brands along with a bunch of other stuff.

    We have a bunch of family farm and homes. Mine don't carry any of those brands.

    Family Farm and Home is based in Muskegon, MI. They opened a store a few miles down the road from me a couple years back. I was there tonight and saw the same brand cherry pits that you showed in the pic. All they have for pellets at my local store is Pro Pellets and Michigan Wood Pellets. Looks like they got another shipment in as if guess 25% of their parking lot is taken up with pellets. Gotta be 100 tons there at least. I couldn't tell what brand they were, but the outer wrap didn't say Pro Pellets, so I'm guessing it's more Michigans. :(

    They had Ozarks here in 2013/2014. I bought a few bags and they were OK. Nothing spectacular, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy more again.
