I was not clear enough I guess...
It wasn't whether or not you liked softies...
It was what BRAND of softies do you like, AND are available to you,
and IF it was a good blend, what brand were those..

I'm looking for BRANDS... not necessarily your "type" preference..

Thanks.... sorry I was not clear enough in the original question..

Nope, You weren't. Be more specific and ya might get what ya be looking for. Another suggestion is once you get a few brands. Post a poll and see which comes out the winner.............

    Softies.......

La crete's - Vermonts - North Country - Vandies Plat - Orford(AKA Eagle Valley) - Lg's - Easy Blaze. Oops forgot Spruce pointe.

    Hardwoods..........

    Cubex - Thurman - Hamer - Ambiance - Somersets

    Blend.........

MWP - Energex - Dry Creek - Easy Blaze - NEWP(but only from the NH mill)... Several others but tooo lazy to type!!

Another FYI. Dry Creek has super softies and a super hardwood available(or used too). Don't see them locally, But I have burned them in the past and they did pretty well.

Well... often times when you are writing something, you know exactly what you mean
but the words don't come out for others to know.
Then sometimes, no matter what you write, some don't get it regardless..
Have had that issue before on the website..
As for your favs, those are pretty much what we have now... (no EZ's, and no more Pointes..)
    I'll let you do that!

Orford produces a hardwood. They bag a softwood that someone else produces. I havent seen em in 2 years now.

I know that Eagle Valley last bagged Orford about 4 years ago...but Eagle Valley is 100% softwood out of BC...so I think you might be referring too another version of Orford....maybe someone can clarify.....

IIRC BT maybe had both flavors of Orford? It was one of those places up there....

For Dan....for the price down here the EZBB are a very good pellet for the price here....but I do love other softies but just can't get the ones I like all the time.

Last i saw orford softies in the ne was the year if the fire sale. I picked up 1-2 tons @ $199 a ton. Since then i havent seen them around here. I can still get the hardwoods. According to orfords website back then they produced their own hardwood, but bagged someone elses softwood in orford softie bags. Not sure who. They seeemed very similar to a bc softie.

    Greetings Dan,

LaCrete, LG, Vandy Plats, Olympus DF - in order of $$$ vs. heat output:

1.6 lb/hr (optimal setting for stove, room air temp. output (probe) measured 1/2 " from center lowest Heat Exchange tube exit)

Edit: optimal setting = highest room air output vs. stack flue exit temp., temp. difference at this setting is 50-55 F, e.g. room air exit = 200 F, combustion probe temp. = 250 F.

    Vandy Plats = 190-195 F
    LG *Satisfaction bagged = 200-205 F
    LaCrete = 210-215 F
    Olympus DF = 220-225 F
    --

All readings avg., temps. taken 1 hour after stove up to operating temp. (stove fully heat-soaked), combustion air fine-tuned for each brand, to provide clean burn.

Heat output vs. cost - LaCrete wins in the stove here.

    * Spruce Pointe was the best value vs. Heat output (195-200 F), but 4 cups of fines/breakage per bag was a bit excessive, on the (5) test bags ran here last season.. Got tired of vacuuming the pellets, quickly.

Hope the feedback is helpful to you,
    Regards, Rob

Not much of a selection here. MWP for a blend, Lacrete for softies. Tried some Crabbe softies this year and not impressed.
