Water level looks a bit low....will it fill back up through summer?
    Nice pics!

Is that water level typical for this time of year ?

Not sure about the water level , 1st time there in the Spring but looked over 20' lower than when i was there last Oct.
    FYI:
But some research shows the lowest level to be in May & the highest levels in September
( low, 839 feet in May to full- 874 feet in Sept)
    Ek wtr lvl.jpg
    It's Anchorage's water supply & feeds a hydro-electric power station.
Very little liquid water coming in thru winter, the level only goes down

It's way lower than when we rode there last Fall.
Ice just went out & when the snow in the mtns starts to melt
the water level will come up.
the creeks running in were low & clear, but are typically high & muddy in Summer from the snow melt.
Lots of snow in the mtns this year, probably start filling up soon.

As glacier recede, less ice to melt & feed the lake,
then annual snow fall amounts will be more critical

As Eklutna Glacier shrinks, Anchorage’s water and power will become more expensive

Beautiful pictures Dave. Sounds like a great ride.

Haven't told you but I did get out on my bike but only once for a very short ride. It took a heavy toll on the hip and leg and to top it off, I also got my first road rash of the year when I went down in some very loose gravel. Should have known better but I was just so happy to be back on the bike I guess not enough attention was paid to the road surface. Some learn slow.

Nice pictures. Our lakes were ice off early as well. On the link you provided it says it was last stocked with Rainbows in 96. Do you think thats old data? With a stream coming into it the trout are likely reproducing naturally. See any rises?

Data usually accurate on the F&G site.

    No jumpers
but saw a few small ones ( 4 - 6" ) at the mouth of one of the creeks where it dumps in.
    My guess is they're spawning
I don't think it gets fished much either .
No boats allowed, one of Anchorage's water supply.
summer time they rent kayaks, never seen anyone fishing though.

Sadly my trails on the Edmunds Lake trail system are pretty blown out

There has been an enormous increase in bike traffic the last six months and the "newbies" aren't respecting the fact that the trails need to dry out

They are just tearing the $#!# out of them

Now I hear some guy from Eagle River has permission to put a whole new trail system back in there by the scout camps

    Just what I need

Bunch of punks like at Kincaid and Hillside

I need to get up on the Eklutna trail before the summer crowd hits
