Figured I'd start a thread where we can post our 2022/2023 deer kills.

Fall bow opened up here in NJ today. I was able to take a nice mature doe this morning shortly after sunrise. Hit her just a bit back but thankfully got one lung and no gut. She made me track her through about 80yds of the nastiest stuff in the woods but it was worth it.

Congratulations! We just got our food plots in yesterday with rain forecast for today. Ground was super dry but got it worked up and planted and the rain that was forecast actually showed up this time, started last night and still raining today! We don't hunt this early as it's way too hot, humid and buggy for us now. By mid October we will bee in .the stands though

Congrats! Now go get that buck.

I couldnt get out this weekend and of course some nice does and a few bucks showed up on camera yesterday morning lol.

I'm giving saddle hunting a try this year. Picked up an XOP saddle and platform package for $200 on Amazon over the summer.

    Thanks guys!

Nice to hear mother nature actually decided to cooperate with ya. Been drier than a popcorn fart here. We got a good bit of rain last week but still not enough. Supposed to be raining as I type this too but nothing. I don't usually hunt too much this early because of the heat and skeeters but yesterday morning was nice and cool in the 50's so I decided to go sit. Glad I did.

BCB haha yea it's buck time! Just need them to show back up. Had three nice one's on camera for weeks then poof, gone. My buddy who hunts about 1/2mile down the road has them on cam now. Go figure  . Hopefully you like the saddle. It definitely gives you a lot more options on picking trees. I tried my buddy's out a while back and it's definitely comfortable. I just couldn't imagine myself being able to sit still as long as I can in a stand.

As dry as it’s been I’m sure you didn’t hit any water tracking her

Sourwood the plot is looking good! How long is it? Looks like it just keeps going as far as you can see

Have to wait until 10/1. Have several nice buck on camera and it seems that new doe are appearing too. Depends on the temps if I will harvest a doe or not early in season. I'll have the woods to myself until the end of Oct. then my son's soccer season will be done. Last year I was dedicated to letting the big boys walk, so he could harvest one. Well he did, so this year it's every man for himself. :)

That plot is something I would like to do in my woods. It's like a runway!

A young lady took her first deer today on our farm on the youth season opener. Winchester XPR in 350 Legend. She and her dad are pretty stoked. We are glad to thin out one of our crop eating baby makers!![IMG]

Definitely hope it does spark a passion. If she follows in her fathers footsteps it will. We really like to have the youth hunters here on the farm and allow most any that ask. We know the deer that are shot at this time of year are the ones that live AND EAT here.

Youth season is this weekend. I plan on getting 2 of my kids out, hopefully my daughter her first deer.

Both of them want to go archery even though guns are allowed. Proud.
