My stove sits in the fireplace opening so I have no cook top space available. I do have something up my sleeve that I hope to fab up and make some use of the stove heat.
I picked this up at a local True Value Store for $19.99, I hope to get the second one next week when they receive another order. Steaks on top of the wood stove, soon!
I am going to throw this out there: If anyone is going to try broiling or baking in their stoves such as pizza on a stone or steak in a cast iron pan, I may be able to forge up some steel trivets with 3 or 4 inch legs on them to get over the coal bed. I am probably going to make one for the mud oven for fajita cooking and see how it goes. It might be fun.
This is something I do a few times during the heating season in the jotul. Cast iron on the coals with my choice of hickory, apple, etc splits with some ribeye steaks. The fat gets crispy and delicious! Good deal! Im really liking the lodge product line. Quality pans!
Oh you guys know how very "near and dear" this subject is to my heart! Wifey and I are currently getting close to pulling the trigger on the cookstove of our dreams!!
Steak in the stove will be on my list this season. Rib eyes are a great choice. Sautéed mushrooms and onions in butter for me.
fishingpol did you get my PM a few weeks back? Never heard back from you. Sorry, fellas I've just been SLAMMED all summer and didn't get much time here. Just picked up four more jobs in the past two days.
My only complaint with these pans is that the handle seems short for me. When I do the skillet bake and it is loaded up, the handle feels short. I have to grab the nub on the other side of the pan. I would like a longer handle to get two hands on the handle for this for leverage.
That's the one Jon. The LaNordica America. Gonna be talking with Woody Chain very soon to see what we can arrange.
Yes, it's a "photoshopped" fire in it. But that's the stove right there. And we're in the midst of getting it......
