I have a 1979 shenandoah wood furnace model AF77 . Been really cold and banked it out for a over nighter. In the morning was all ash. I took out the old gasket and measured it and was 1/2 wide. Bought a new 1/2 x 7ft gasket and put in on. Does not seal either. Can any one tell me the size of the rope gasket for this model? Could not find any info on the web. Thank You Great Dane
I really doubt you will find too many here that are familiar with that machine...can you get a length of flat gasket to pack in behind it to "shim" it out a lil? Also, be aware that there are lots of different densities of gaskets out there, any given size can fit totally different based on what density it is.
I don't know your model but if a 1/2 inch doesn't seal maybe a 5/8 or 3/4 forth inch will work.I wonder if the shop who sells the gasket will give you a small piece of each size to see which one will work. Then you know which to buy.Or just get the 5/8 which will seal better than the 1/2 inch.It may just be all you need or get you through the season.
I have a 1982 johnson wood stove a 7900 in my house in the kitchen. It takes a 5/8 rope gasket for the door and the ash tray. Was thinking about buying a gasket from tsc store and trying that. Thanks
